Society/Experience

Im going to say that both society and experience shape individuals. Society acts in a way that makes the majority of individuals to be dependent. For example: a typical person wants to fit in and feel accepted, which makes them decide to emulate their peers (like thinking and acting like them). As this way of life continues, people start to disagree with certain decisions of their peers because of an experience of just an opinion. This starts to show signs of being independent and that the idea of thinking for yourself for once feels right. So the effects of society get us when were young and clueless but as we mature, we start to break away from the pack and realise that living like everyone else doesnt feel right anymore.

You are right on! That is one of the beauties of getting older: freedom to be yourself!
