hmm

i don't have much to say and i haven't been put in that situation much before. but if something like that were to happen to me and it was against my nature, im obviously not gunna do whatever it may be, because its just not me. :)

Nothing is off limits!

This is a hard concept for me to respond to because there isn't much I wouldn't do if a situation called for me to step in. Something that has been difficult for me to handle is when my friends are going through something that I would never allow for myself. For example, I have a friend who lets her boyfriend treat her very badly and no matter how much advice I give her, she doesn't listen to me. It's like she has to go through it herself and learn for herself. This makes me feel like I have to be a patient and supportive friend when I really want to tell her I think she is being a fool! It is hard for me to keep my true feelings in; holding back is against my nature.

we've got to fulfill the book...

Society is like the shape and build-up of a house, and experience is everything that fills the house to be original.
In my field of vision, I feel that both society and experience go hand in hand to create the individual. First, society gives the individual the sort of boundary lines of what one should be like, or the "normal" person. Society is what influences the individual to know what is right and what is wrong throughout life, unless an individual rebels against those rules.
Experience is what one is full of, and all that belongs to you and only you. Experience is what one builds off of, from the past, through the present, and into the future of life.

sociaty/expirence

I think that both society and expirence shapes the individual, because if you are brought up to do things a certain way then you might continue to do things that way just because you learned from sociaty that you are supposed to do things like that, but Expirences you have can also shape the individual because if somebody goes through some expirence that realy effected them they might think about things diffrently and change the way they used to do things. Even if the things they were in the habbit of doing before were set for them by sociaty, there reasons for doing it might change if an expirence leads them to think differntly of it.

Society and the experience that one faces shapes the individual. One cannot just say it one or the other. Even as child one seems to pick up on society's views. Just like in the book "Frankenstein", Frankenstein wants some one to talk to and he sees a child, and hopes that society's views on whats ugly and what is not has not corrupted the child's mind. But, when Frankenstein tries to talk to the child he tries to run away. The child already knows what is ugly and what is not, and is afriad of what he sees. Or is it the people he is around all the time that made him fear Frankstein. I feel it is a little bit of both. Every one in the town that the child lives in wont talk to him because the way he looks. They fear him as he walks down the street, afriad that he will try to hurt him; they throw rocks at hi, or they run screaming. And when he tries to rescue someone people assume that he is hurting the individual. But, the child is also around his family often and hears how they talk about Frankstein, and in effect that would give the child a bad connotation whenever he sees Frankstien, which would make the child run away from Frankstein once he laid eyes on him. It is not only the experience that shapes the individual, it is also the views of soicety either good or bad can shape someone views, and thoughts.

Society/Experience

Im going to say that both society and experience shape individuals. Society acts in a way that makes the majority of individuals to be dependent. For example: a typical person wants to fit in and feel accepted, which makes them decide to emulate their peers (like thinking and acting like them). As this way of life continues, people start to disagree with certain decisions of their peers because of an experience of just an opinion. This starts to show signs of being independent and that the idea of thinking for yourself for once feels right. So the effects of society get us when were young and clueless but as we mature, we start to break away from the pack and realise that living like everyone else doesnt feel right anymore.

SOCIETY VS. EXPERIENCE

I personally think that both can shape a person. From personal experience I definitely have been influenced by both. Society shapes people when the come out with all these teen magazines making girls and boys feel as though they have to be a certain way. Experience shapes people by who they surround themselves with and what situations they get themselves into. Say if someone died that was close to you, that experience may influence who you become. Likewise for the society ,if you read a magazine that says that some actress is fat when she is Skinner than you, then that may make you self-conscious,which shapes who you are. so from my own experience and opinion both society and experience can shape an individual.

Does society shape the individual or does experience

In my eyes i think that society and experience can both shape an individual and the way they look at life differently. Through my near death experiences which I've had three made me aware of staying out of trouble and prevent myself from danger. When i was little I almost got hit by a man on a dirt bike beside the fact he was going above seventy miles per hour. The other experiences was being chased with a machete in Brockton and a car accident on the rotary in Scituate going eighty miles per hour and knocked over a sign. As a result, one tire blew up, another popped, and the front bumper is cracked. As for me I have continuous back pains and my neck hurts every now and then. No one else got hurt but now I wont look to have too much fun on my spare time. As for the society, peer pressure can get you in trouble and just doing anything to have fun SHOULDN'T BE DONE....

Curiosity

When you think of a question mark you think of curiostity. I always seem to be asking questions and wondering why things are the way they are. I am open to new things, either it is some eleses culture, or trandition Iseem to always looking for something that I have not learned yet. because I know once your curiosity stops everything around you becomes boring, and bland. Everyday becomes the same as the next. Who wants to live that king of life style, going through life just relizing that everything is the same and their is nothing to look forward to. Remenber when you were a child a the world was your oyster, everything seems to be so exciting and interesting. But as life takes over our curiosity seems to fade. But I plan to stay the same quetion mark I was as a child.

MY symbol

My symbol would most definetly be the color green. I say this because like the color green i'm always alive an energenic.I live life to the fullest. I do what I can with every minute I am given. The color green is what surrounds us its everywere. When you see green you think happyness and joy so when people see me i hope thats how they portray me.

the reasoning of my symbol=]

For my symbol, I would have a microphone and its cord hanging off of a basketball hoop. I take pride in the fact that i want to be an aspiring music artist or a professional basketball player. The basketball hoop centers and symbolizes dedication, hardwork, and the diligence i put in to acheive my dream. I have been playin basketball ever since i was a toddler at age 7. My brother taught me how to hoop because there was a half of a basketball behind my backyard i played on everyday. I never was a couch potato for a day and that court was where you could find me at. Also, I started rapping in 7th grade in science during middle school and had people read them as a use of entertainment. I dont want to stop each hobby and would never drop these habits. Hopefully, One day ill be able to sign to Sony Productions because I'm talking to them right now or tryout for the NBA.

Intimidating Dream

The dream of mine that intimidates me a little bit is my career after high school. I would like to become a Firefighter. The part of this that I am fearful of is the road to become one. It takes a lot of schooling and learning. Also, I would have to take multiple tests to get to higher levels of being a firefighter. First I would have to go to school to become a paramedic, then take a test that basically says I learned what was required and that I understand it. After that I would go on to the firefighters academy and do training there. I'm pretty sure that if/when I get to these stages, knowing myself, I'll will become overwhelmed with all that is required of me to do. The second to last reason I think would intimidate me is the just the fact of being a firefighter. It just seems like I'm supposed to do good. And if i didn't do something right for some reason, I would feel as though I failed in some way. FINALLY, the thing i fear most is having to risk my life. Knowing i have to save people or having to make the right decision in a split second at certain times.

"He who makes a beast of himself gets rid of the pain of being a man."

Dreams are something that everyone, no matter who or where, has. Dreams differ among every individual and there are no two alike anywhere in the world. My dreams intimidate me and I fear that I will be disappointed, although there is a place in my mind that keeps me thinking positive. I trust myself enough to know the difference between right and wrong, what I want and what I don't, what I need and what I want. I want to learn how to succeed in my own life and earn everything that I recieve. I want to be happy, I do not want to turn sour, because that would turn me bitter and evil, and that's not me.

What you dream is what you fear, and what you fear is what you dream.

dreams

I think that people feel unworthy or feargul of dreams and goals that they have that they dont think that they can acheive because they are scared that they might not acheive it. Its not bad to fear dreams becuase if you work hard at trying to reach your goal, but you dont you probably learned something else that could help you anyways in a diffrent goal. You should at least try to see if you can make your dream come true becuase if you dont then youll never realy know. -sinead.

Dreams

I don't really have a dream job or know what i want to do for the rest of my life. All I know is I want to make alot of money and i don't really care if i enjoy what im doing or not as long as im making money. I fear that if i dont acheive my goal of making alot of cash that i will become a bum. Money brings power and wealth and power is all you need to acheive your goal of being happy in life.

Dreams

I would like to be a lawyer, however, sometimes I am afraid that I might not achieve my goal. If I do not acheive my goal than what does that make me, a dream that I have been dreaming aboout never became reality. Then I would feel unworthy, and like a loser. In my house their is no room for failuare, and at times I identiofy myself my the things i have achomplished,a nd not by my heart, and by my effort. However, no dreams should be left unexplored, because you willalways have an what if question in your head. But incase you fail it does you are a less of an person.

KEEP DREAMING :)

I've always been the kid that has so many goals for their future. Of course throughout my years that goal for my future has always changed. Since I've been in high school I've had this dream of becoming a architect and not only is it a dream its my goal,my destination in life. I really want this and I believe i can do it. I am going to do it,but at the same time I'm so intimidated. Its a big thing im getting myself into yet I'm really ready for the challenge. My reasons for being so fearful of it is because my whole life all my dreams have been put down. People say that i cant do it or that its a really hard career to get into. But in this particular situation i feel as though nobody can tell me i cant do it,and maybe its because i haven't told many people that this is what i want to do with my life, no this is what I am going to do with my life. I think that it is totally normal to be afraid of our own dreams. Its most likely because its something none of us have ever done before. The dreams that in my own opinion are best to be afraid of are the dreams that involve our future, mostly because nobody wants to mess around with that so people stick to their daily routines. So if you have a dream and really believe you can do ,well guess what you can do it! No dream should be left unheard.

Butterfly

The butterfly is a good symbol for this book because it represents the evolution a person goes through from birth to death and the changes that they go through. Myra starts out closed off and insecure. At the moment when she gets the butterfly it is like she is coming out of the cocoon and spreading her wings. But with life there comes death. The Butterfly is a good example of something that goes through many changes before it dies. Even though Myra was only 11 she had gone through changes in her own life. So as the butterfly dies at the end of its life cycle she is about to die at the end of hers.

butta fly

the butterfly in The Day of The Butterfly represents Mya coming out of her shell and feeling comfortable about who she is. At first, she resembles a cacoon. She was very anti-social and didnt talk to anyone. Then Helen confronted her and she started to open up a little. As time went on she became more normal. So from a cacoon the to a butterfly.

butterfly

In the story we read "Day of the Butterfly", a butterfly is used as a symbol to represent friendship. I say this only because a butterfly clip brought together Myra and Helen. If it wasnt for the butterfly clip that they found, there friendship wouldn't be as strong. Before Myra and Helen were friends Myra was a outcast, she just didnt fit in. She didnt play at recess and nobody talked to her. But one day Helen got to school early and Myra was the only one to talk to. Helen even though unsure of her decision spoke to myra and soon they found a butterfly clip. Thats were there friendship began. Due to this incident the story got its name and this butterfly represents Helen and Myras friendship.

Turning Into a Butterfly

Turning into a butterfly is a hard, long process. You have to come out of your comfort zone to go from catipillar to butterfly. In the short story "The Day of the Butterfly" shows the transfromtion from catipillar to butterfly through the main character,Myra,. In the begining of the story she had no friends, and seemed to except the fact that she just did not fit in with anyone. However, she seemed too make a connection with one of her classmate, Helen, while waiting for the school bus. Since Myra never experienced having a friend it was uncomfortable for her. However, when Myra got sick and had to go to the hospital Helen, and the other classmates went to go visit her, then Myra seemed to open herself up more. For Myra that was a big step. A butterfly started out as a catipillar, which is not that pretty, and cannot fly yet. However, when the catipillar makes a cacon and comes out as a butterfly, it looks beutifull, and starts to fly just like Myra. In the begin of story she was a catipillar that really does not do much, but by putting herself out there she transforms herself into a butterfly, and Myra starts to realize that someone would want to be her friend, and she worth more than she thought.

it finally came.

It seemed more than 20 years away back in elementry school. When the time for middle school seemed around it was almost like we would never leave there, we were trapped in the preteen life forever. Then like a blur we were old enough for high school, somehow we were now freshman of high school, but even so graduation stil seemed like to far away. Like it was going to be so long before that ever happened. I don't even know how it could go that fast but now i am in my senior of high school preparing for the next chapter. Its exciting but scary all the same. I think about the last 11 years and it's weird to think its been that long since i started high school. Friendships lost form moves, friends lost from petty things, friendships gained where it seemed impossible and the few that made it through the tough times somehow. I wonder what it will be like being out of high school walking into collage. will it be like my first day of high school or in a sense my first day of kindergarden? its weird to think i am going to be making my own choices and to know what i do now is on my terms. What i do i do now really?

Not Daddy's Little Girl

When I was one years old my dad left my mom and I to fend for ourselves. He took all her money and jewerly under estimating my strenght, and how she is a survivalist. He thought that we would never be able to make it on our own. However, growing up I did not really think about him. All I did was repress my feeling towards him. But when I strated high school I could not stop thinking about. I always wondered how different my life would be if he was still in my life, would I be happier, or would I be sadder? Then I slowly started to get very depressed. I never got the chance to be daddy's little girl, nor did I get the experiences every other girls have gotten to experience with their dad's. So what do I do now, do I live in the past, or do I learn from my experience and become stronger from them.

Crazy bad times

It was april,I was in 8th grade and going through extreme pain because little did I know that I had a deadly infection known as osteomylitis growing inside of my knee. My grandmother brought me to south shore hospital in weymouth to find out what was wrong. They sent me home with cruches and a brace on my knee. They said i had pulled tendons, they were very wrong. Over the course of the next two weeks my pain increased,I had gotton no sleep and was extremly dehydrated. I discovered that there was a swollen lymph node on the back of my neck which indicates an infection,my docter became concered with my knee and decided to take blood. later that day my mom recieved a phone call from my docter saying that my white blood cell count was extremly high so he sent my to go get fluids taken out of my leg. That was very unsucsessful. I refused to let them try again so they sent me to get a MRI,which is like a detailed X-RAY. After that i went home and we got a phone call from the hopital almost instantly, they informed my mom that somthing was wrong and that i was already admitted to childrens hospital in boston and to get there now. We waited in the emergency room for 4hours,whem they finally took me in they decided it was best to take more fluids out of my knee but this time they gave me drugs so i couldnt really fix it. After it was again unsucessful they put me in my hospital room, and 2 hours later i was in surgery, the scaryest part was that they didnt even know what was wrong with me,untill 2 days later, for a while they feared that i had cancer. Thank god i didnt,im still here today.
so this one day i was riding my bike when i decided to attemp to clean the chain while riding. that was probably the worst decision i've ever made in my life. next thing i know, i runnging to my house with blood all over my shirt and hands. o yea..and a piece of my finger was in the road . a few minutes later my dad went out to find the piece of my finger that tore free from the chain. my dad made me put my hand under water and rubber soap on my finger. which absolutely
KILLED!!! but its better now. still hurts a little from time to time.

"What do we do now?"

The summer is over, and my senior year at Scituate High School has finally come. This school year will be packed with hard work and loads of fun. Over the past couple years, Scituate's Athletic program has really improved. Scituate's basketball, hockey, and lacrosse teams has moved Scituate to the top of the list as one of the most difficult competitors. Unfortunately, I dont play any of those sports. I do track in the winter and baseball in the spring. The baseball program is doing pretty good but the winter track program is a little shaky. The talents there but the size of the team isnt. The girls team has plenty of players but the boys team has very few. Each year the boys track team gets smaller and smaller. Sophmore year, my first year, the boys team had around 25 kids. Junior year, around 15-20 kids. And now senior year has come and might have just enough to form a team. What do we do now? Once the class of 09' graduates, the teams basically doomed. The solution for this ongoing problem is to have all the kids who are sitting around doing nothing to get up and join a sports team. Preferably winter track?? Anything really. Its a good experience and it looks nice on a college resume. Hopefully the team will grow and this problem will never come about again.
From Tommy
Considering that Tom Brady merely exists the Pats are helpless. All they have to help them is their defense along with Wes Welker and Randy Moss. With the liability of Matt Cassel doing big things is very rare, luck is a must. The patriots defense is the only thing that can save them knowing that defense wins games.=]

Plants or Animals....Obama or McCain

So, I read an article about the presidential election and the kinds of foods that Obama and McCain enjoy. What I found out from the article is that Obama is vegetarian and one of his top choices for a healthy and tasty meal is guacamole and pita chips. McCain on the other hand would gladly scarf down some spare ribs and PHAT (pretty hot and tempting) cheeseburgers any day. So "What do we do now?" Who do you choose? Food choice matters big time within the 2008 election.

Global Warming Warning

Global warming is becoming a serious problem in the world today. If you arent aware of the issues that are happening you should see Al Gore's movie "An Inconvenient Truth." Littering, air poloution and the amount of carbon dioxide in the air are all contributing to the effects of global warming on the earth. Every year temperatures around the globe are warming due to the buring of fossil fules, coal, gas and oil. There are majior effects of global warming that are dramatically increasing. The number of severe storms and droughts are higher than ever and glaciers around the world are melting leaving polar bears homeless. So what do we do now to help decrease these effects of global warming? Recycling, finding other forms of fules and being more aware of what is happening can all help.

If nothing changes the Arctic ocean could be ice free in summer by the year 2050. In that same year more than one million species could be extinct. Most people think they are not personally getting influenced by this but with the melting of glaciers the ocean will rise more than 20 feet in a matter of years, which would destroy coastal cities and towns.

What do we do now?

Now that the Scituate High School Football team finally has a new and very improved coaching staff, coaches, parents, and players all are really excited about the season. There has been alot of speculation of whether Scituate Football would ever be back to where they used to be. Opposing schools, many SHS students, and people that reside in Scituate are thinking this years team is going to be no different then the years past. So, as a team we all had many meetings and the coaches and players all said "what do we do now?" To fully answer this question could be nearly impossible by the amount of work, pride and dedication to a soon to be winning season.
On August 18th we started football camp with a fully new coaching staff. Our coaches said other towns want us to play them during the preseason because they belive we would be a easy match for them. So we thought what do we do now? We are currently 3-0 in scrimmage play without allowing a single point during this span. Now we got teams thinking, oh, what does scituate have this year that is so different, lets just say determination and willingness to go against all odds and know that tomorrow is another day at the practice field with the same question in mind "what do we do now?"
Before i get ahead of myself I just want to say this, there is going to be alot of people who are impressed by the way we come out and play this season. Also being a senior throughout this year in football makes it that much more special.

Thank you for reading my blog I hope you enjoyed it.

Until next time,
Billy Doherty
